Solid Food Schedule:
Children aged 6 Months to 3 Years

The following schedule for introducing solid foods to breast-fed infants has been compiled from input from numerous Naturopaths who work extensively with infants and children. Most physicians suggest avoiding common allergens such as: cow’s milk, wheat, corn, oranges, eggs, chocolate and honey--a toxic substance until 1 year, until the child is 1 year old. It is best to introduce one new food at a time, preferably every 2 – 4 days, while observing the child for reactions such as: sneezing, runny nose, rash around the mouth or anus or urethra, a change in stool or personality. Non-allergenic foods should be rotated every 5 to 6 days to minimize the child becoming sensitive to foods. Becoming sensitive to foods may develop when the same foods are eaten 1 or 2 times daily for 5 – 7 consecutive days. (Townsend Letter)
